Ambassador Hou Yue Attends the 2026 Chinese New Year Gala for Overseas Chinese Children in Norway

On February 1, 2026, H.E. Ms Hou Yue, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Norway, attended the 2026 Chinese New Year Gala for Overseas Chinese Children in Norway. Ms. Lene W. Conradi, Mayor of Asker, and more than 500 members of the overseas Chinese community were also present at the event.

In her remarks, Ambassador Hou noted that the Spring Festival represents reunion, harmony and hope. As the most important and heartwarming traditional festival of all Chinese, it is also a cultural heritage shared by all humanity. Chinese and Norwegian friends celebrating the Spring Festival together is a vivid reflection of mutual respect and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. She said that in Chinese culture, horse symbolizes resilience, endeavorand vitality, and extended her best wishes to all guests for continued progress and achievements in the Year of the Horse. Ambassador Hou expressed her hope that overseas Chinese children would grow up healthy and strong, and that one day they could serve as bridges for people-to-people exchanges between China and Norway, make positive contributions to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Ambassador Hou watched the performances together with the guests. The event was held in a warm and festive atmosphere.
