On September 24, at the invitation of the Norwegian Defence University College, Chinese Ambassador to Norway Hou Yue gave a thematic lecture on China’s Security Policy.

Ambassador Hou pointed out that the Chinese nation is a peace-loving nation. China has always upheld the belief that “A great power will perish if it’s aggressive, and its security be endangered if it neglects self-defence.” Guided by this principle, China stays committed to the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security. China firmly follows the path of peaceful development and resolutely safeguards its sovereignty, security, and development interests. China advocates a new approach to security based on dialogue instead of confrontation, partnership instead of alliance, and win–win cooperation instead of zero-sum games, aiming to foster a secure external environment, enabling China's own development while contributing to global well-being.
Ambassador Hou emphasized that facing the turbulent international landscape, China proposes the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and Global Governance Initiative, and is willing to work with the international community, including Norway, to better reform and improve the global governance in an effort to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Ambassador Hou also answered questions from students on China’s Arctic policy.
