On September 3, the Chinese Embassy in Norway held a symposium with overseas Chinese to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Participants watched the grand commemorative conference, and representatives of overseas Chinese in Norway attended the event.

Ambassador Hou Yue stated that the Chinese people, through immense sacrifice, forged the great victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, achieving the first complete victory against foreign invasion in modern Chinese history and holding the ground in the main eastern battlefield of the World Anti-Fascist War. Taiwan’s return to China was an important outcome of the victory of the war, as well as an essential part of the post-war international order. The historical process of China’s reunification is unstoppable and will ultimately be completed. Ambassador Hou expressed hope that the overseas Chinese community would carry forward the great spirit of the War of Resistance, firmly support the cause of national reunification, and contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The overseas Chinese participants emphasized that the victory of the War of Resistance stands as an eternal historical monument for the all Chinese. They pledged to draw strength from the great spirit of the War of Resistance, and take concrete actions in support of China’s reunification and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
