Ambassador Hou Yue Attends the Chinese New Year Reception of Norwegian and Hong Kong Business Community

On January 30, 2023, H.E. Ms HOU Yue, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Norway, was invited to attend the Chinese New Year Reception organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London and the Norway-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and made an opening speech. Nearly one hundred people attended the event, including Rolf Willy Hansen, President of the Norwegian Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, Svein Ole Sæther, Former Norwegian Ambassador to China, officials from Innovation Norway and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives from Chinese and Norwegian business Community.

Ambassador Hou said that since its return to the motherland, Hong Kong has continued to maintain economic prosperity, social stability, democratic progress, and flourishing development on all fronts, and the practice of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong has achieved globally recognized success. After the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, Hong Kong has restored order and entered a new stage of governance and prosperity.

Ambassador Hou emphasized that the Chinese central government will continue to fully and faithfully implement "one country, two systems". This firm resolve has never wavered, and will remain unwavering. China's irresistible development momentum and Hong Kong’s unique status and advantages create the greatest foundation for Hong Kong's prosperity and development. Known as the "Pearl of the Orient", Hong Kong will continue to present an appearance of great confidence, openness, inclusiveness and vitality to the world, and usher in a broader development prospect. You are welcome to actively participate in the cooperation and development between the Chinese mainland, the Hong Kong SAR and Norway, so as to jointly promote the recovery of the global economy after the epidemic and promote China-Norway relations to a higher level.

Ethnic Chinese violin artists were invited to perform "Jasmine" and other Chinese and Norwegian classical musics on the scene.

Mr Chen Wenlin, the Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the embassy, accompanied the ambassador to attend the event.
