On the morning of April 10, 2017, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met at Zhongnanhai with Foreign Minister Borge Brende of Norway.

Yang Jiechi said that the normalization of China-Norway relations conforms to the common interests of both countries as well as the general and right development direction of bilateral relations. Both sides should well implement the important consensus reached by leaders of both countries during Prime Minister Erna Solberg's visit in China. On the basis of mutual respect and equal treatment, both countries should continuously consolidate political mutual trust, promote economic and trade contacts and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, expand and deepen practical cooperation at bilateral, regional and international levels, so as to push China-Norway relations for long-term, healthy, and stable development.

Borge Brende expressed that Norway adheres to the one-China policy, and respects China's core interests and major concerns. The country is willing to, together with China, strengthen exchanges at all levels, enhance mutual trust, expand cooperation and advance the constant development of Nordic-China cooperation and Europe-China relations. The Norwegian side looks forward to reinforcing bilateral communication and coordination in international affairs and jointly making positive contributions to the world peace and development.
