Ambassador-designate Hou Yue Calls on Secretary-General Tore Hattrem

On January 23, 2023, H.E. Ms. Hou Yue, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Norway called on H.E. Mr. Tore Hattrem, the Secretary-General of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Hou said that it is a great honor to serve as the Chinese Ambassador to Norway, and she is grateful for the thoughtful arrangements made by the Norwegian side for her appointment. Norway is one of the first western countries to recognize the People’s Republic of China and establish diplomatic ties with China. China and Norway as well as their peoples have enjoyed long-standing friendship. In recent years, China-Norway relations have developed in a healthy and stable manner with fruitful results. Practical cooperation in various fields is full of highlights. As the new ambassador to Norway, she is ready to work with the Norwegian side during her term of office to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen dialogue and communication, enhance political mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation so as to push for greater development of bilateral relations in the new era, and bring more benefit to the two peoples.

Secretary-General Hattrem warmly welcomed Ambassador Hou to assume her post in Norway and said that Noway and China share common interests in many aspects. The Norwegian side attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with China, and is willing to work together with the Chinese side to continue deepening and expanding exchanges and cooperation in various fields to promote bilateral relations. The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will maintain close contact with the Chinese Embassy in Norway and actively provide convenience and assistance for Ambassador Hou to perform her duties.
