On September 22, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Norway hosted a "Colorful Xinjiang" theme open day event. Ambassador Hou Yue attended the event and delivered a speech, which was attended by more than 80 participants from various sectors of Norway.

In her address, Ambassador Hou expressed that Xinjiang, with its vast land and diverse landscapes, is home to a population of approximately 25 million people from various ethnic groups, including Uyghurs, Kazakhs, etc. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government, Xinjiang has achieved rapid development, with people of all ethnicities enjoying harmony and happiness. The region's culture is thriving, and the beautiful Xinjiang is embracing the world with a renewed face. Ambassador Hou hoped that everyone would have the opportunity to visit Xinjiang, discover the real Xinjiang, and fall in love with “Colorful Xinjiang”.

During the event, Xinjiang compatriots residing in Norway and young diplomats of Xinjiang origin from the embassy shared their personal experiences, shedding light on winter sports, daily life and education in Xinjiang. Guests enjoyed an introductory video while sampling Xinjiang's distinctive cuisine, such as grilled buns and milk tea. They also had the opportunity to try on ethnic clothing, appreciate the "Colorful Xinjiang" photo exhibition, and experience Xinjiang up close. Many expressed that the event had deepened their understanding of China's Xinjiang and expressed their anticipation of visiting Xinjiang in the near future.
