On June 16, Ambassador Hou Yue met with Ms. Karianne Oldernes Tung, the Norwegian Minister of Digitalisation and Public Governance.

Ambassador Hou stated that a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, represented by artificial intelligence (AI), is advancing rapidly, but it also brings unpredictable risks and complex challenges. In 2023, President Xi Jinping put forward the Global AI Governance Initiative, contributing a Chinese solution to global AI governance. China welcomes Norway's participation in relevant cooperation to jointly promote the fair and inclusive development of AI, bridge the digital divide, and benefit the international community.

Ms. Tung said that Norway is advancing the implementation of a new national digitalisation strategy to enhance the industrial application of AI and promote digital transformation across society. She expressed expectations for strengthening dialogue with China in emerging fields such as digital governance and AI to further expand pragmatic cooperation.
