Ambassador Hou Yue Meets with Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the HKSAR Government Christopher Hui

On June 12, Chinese Ambassador to Norway H.E. Ms. Hou Yue met with Mr. Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government. 

Secretary Hui briefed on cooperation between HKSAR and Norway in areas including green finance, maritime insurance, and financial technology. He noted that HKSAR would continue to promote innovation in financial and legal services, expedite the signing of a Comprehensive Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement (CDTA) with Norway, and further expand cooperation with Norway and other Nordic countries.        

Ambassador Hou stated that with the full support of the Central Government, the HKSAR remains focused on economic development and has consistently been ranked as one of the freest economies and most competitive regions globally by various international institutions. This fully demonstrates HKSAR’s unique advantages and the promising prospects under the framework of “One Country, Two Systems”. She noted that China-Norway relations have maintained sound and steady development, with deepening cooperation in areas such as green transition, maritime shipping, agricultural and fishery trade. Ambassador Hou expressed the hope that HKSAR would give full play to its strengths as an international financial, shipping, and trade centre to further contribute to the development of economic and investment cooperation between China and Norway.
