On May 20, the 20th anniversary celebration of European Chinese Women Association was held in Oslo. Over 200 representatives from overseas Chinese women’s organizations across 20 countries in Europe and worldwide attended the event. Ambassador Hou Yue was invited to deliver a video speech.

Ambassador Hou spoke highly of the contribution the Association has made over the past two decades in promoting unity and mutual support among Chinese women in Europe, preserving and promoting Chinese culture, and fostering friendship between Chinese and European communities. Ambassador Hou also pointed out that in 1995, the Fourth World Conference on Women was held in Beijing, where the Beijing Declaration and Platforms for Action were adopted, becoming the milestone of global pursuit of gender equality.

Over the past 30 years, China has remained committed to upholding the spirit of the 1995 Beijing Conference and has made historic achievements in advancing women’s development, leading global progress through concrete actions. In the second half of this year, China will host the Global Summit of Women again in Beijing to further consolidate international consensus on gender equality and women’s empowerment. China stands ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with European countries to promote even greater progress in the global cause of women.
