Ambassador Hou Yue Attends “Understand China – Bridging the Gaps” Open Day Event

On April 30, the Chinese Embassy in Norway held an Open Day event themed “Understand China – Bridging the Gaps” Ambassador Hou Yue attended the event, which was joined by around 60 participants, including students from the University of Oslo and young diplomats from the embassy.

Ambassador Hou introduced the state of China-Norway relations, China’s foreign policy, and the functions of the embassy. In light of the current international landscape, she elaborated on China’s principled position of opposing unilateral bullying and supporting multilateralism. She noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, emphasizing that all nations should work closely to uphold the international system centered on the United Nations and the international order underpinned by international law. She called for joint efforts to expand cooperation, meet global challenges together, and promote building a community with a shared future for mankind. Ambassador Hou hoped that, through dialogue, young Norwegian students would deepen their understanding of China and contribute to China-Norway friendship and global peace and stability.

Students from the University of Oslo actively raised questions, while the young diplomats from the embassy responded thoroughly. The atmosphere was warm and engaging. The students expressed that the Open Day event provided a valuable opportunity to learn about China and its diplomacy, and they looked forward to visiting China to experience its vibrancy firsthand.
