Ambassador Hou Yue Attended the Annual Meeting of SINOGRAIN and the Celebration of NIBIO’s 20 Years of Collaboration with China

On June 18, 2024, the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) held the 2024 annual meeting of the SINOGRAIN China-Norway Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation Project and celebrated the 20th anniversary of NIBIO's cooperation with China. Ambassador Hou Yue attended the event and delivered a speech upon invitation. More than 60 people, including Norwegian government officials, heads of academic institutions, experts and scholars participated.

Ambassador Hou stated that the Chinese government places great importance on agricultural development. Over the years, China has carried out fruitful cooperation on agricultural science and technology, food security, and other areas with global partners, including Norway. The SINOGRAIN project is an excellent example of this. The 20 years of collaboration between NIBIO and Chinese agricultural research institutions have yielded significant results, positioning them at the forefront of China-Norway cooperation. She hoped that both sides would continue to strengthen mutual learning and work together to contribute to global agricultural development and the maintenance of global food security.

H.E. Signe Brudeset, Norwegian Ambassador to China (via video message), Mr. Iver Kristensen, CEO of NIBIO, Mr. Wanqiang Qian, Director of Department of Major R&D Programs of CAAS, Mr. Thomas Hansteen, Special Advisor of the Research Council of Norway, and experts and scholars from relevant institutions, highly praised the achievements of the SINOGRAIN project and the 20 years of close cooperation between NIBIO and Chinese agricultural research institutions in their speeches. They also wished for greater accomplishments for the scientists from both countries.
