On April 27, 2023, Ambassador Hou Yue met with Mr. Gilford LAW, the Director-General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London (HKETO London covers Norway- Hong Kong economic and trade cooperation). Ms. Amy Wong, the Deputy Director-General of HKETO London, and Mr. Chen Wenlin, the Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy, also attended the meeting.

Director-General LAW congratulated Ambassador Hou’s assumption of office and briefed her on the efforts of the HKETO London to promote economic and trade exchanges between Hong Kong and the UK, Norway, and other countries. He expressed that the HKETO London would seize the opportunity, vigorously expand pragmatic cooperation between Hong Kong and various countries, and look forward to receiving the continuous support and assistance from the embassy.

Ambassador Hou stated that the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as its core, always pays close attention to the development of Hong Kong and the well-being of Hong Kong compatriots. It has made a series of strategic decisions and major arrangements, repeatedly indicating the direction of Hong Kong's development at historical junctures, ensuring long-term prosperity and stability. "One country, two systems", which embodies the political wisdom of the CPC, is an important part of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics, and is also the greatest guarantee for the prosperity and development of Hong Kong. Ambassador Hou hoped that the HKETO London would continue to play a bridging role, further deepen exchanges and cooperation with European countries including Norway, attract more foreign investors to participate in the development of Hong Kong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and contribute to the realization of Chinese modernization with high-quality development.
