On April 24, 2024, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the first China-Latin American and Caribbean States Space Cooperation Forum.

Xi Jinping pointed out that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-CELAC Forum jointly announced by him and leaders of the Latin American and Caribbean states. Over the past decade, the friendly cooperation between China and the Latin American and Caribbean states has seen prosperous development in various fields within the framework of the China-CELAC Forum, which has brought the relations between China and the Latin American and Caribbean states into a new era characterized by equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness and benefits for the people. Xi said he is glad to see that the space cooperation between China and the Latin American and Caribbean states has yielded fruitful results in recent years, and that both sides have continuously made new progress in cooperation in such fields as remote sensing satellites, communication satellites and the deep space station network, which has played an important role in promoting scientific and technological progress, strengthening regional connectivity and improving people's wellbeing. China is ready to work with the Latin American and Caribbean states to build a high-level space cooperation partnership with the first China-Latin American and Caribbean States Space Cooperation Forum as the starting point, so as to advance space technology to the greater benefit of the two peoples, and promote steady progress in the building of a community with a shared future between China and the Latin American and Caribbean states.

The first China-Latin American and Caribbean States Space Cooperation Forum, co-hosted by the China National Space Administration and the People's Government of Hubei Province, kicked off on the same day in Wuhan, Hubei.
